BIOGRAPHY

RAY BLINDE, CPIM

Ray Blinde has 25 years of manufacturing management experience with direct responsibility for inventory levels, customer service, manufacturing productivity, through-put and cash flow. In 1991, Ray became an independent consultant focusing on California manufacturing companies with training and process improvement to improve their competitive position.

His services include:

  • Training to support Total Quality Management, Statistical Process Control, Material Requirements Planning, Distribution Planning, Just-in-Time, and Continuous Improvement.
  • Facilitation of employee teams or line managers to accomplish improvement objectives.
  • Strategic Consulting to define approaches to best accomplish company objectives.
  • Interim Management of operations functions or project leadership as required.

Prior to establishing his own business, Ray, as Operations Manager and continuing as a V.P. for an electronics components manufacturer, led the company’s continuous improvement efforts to avoid financial insolvency. In previous positions, Ray served as Materials Director, Materials Manager, and Production Control Manager for fortune 100 firms.

Just-in-Time / Continuous Improvement / Statistical Process Control

  • Led an electronic component firm’s avoidance of financial demise through a two year aggressive implementation of process improvement, applying JIT and variation control strategies.
  • Revised plant layout for a jewelry manufacturer to simplify process flow and enable employment of kan-ban scheduling, small lot manufacturing, quality focus.

Total Quality Management / Culture Change / Teamwork - empowerment

  • Provided TQM training and facilitation to support major improvement of a sensing device manufacturer’s process quality. Provided TQM training and Continuous Improvement facilitation to a variety of small companies - forming and facilitation teams to implement process improvement
  • Provided TQM training, interim management leadership to a small stamping manufacturer in order to stay competitive in California after defense industry reduction

Systems Improvement / Materials Management

  • Participated on a luggage manufacturing corporation’s MRP team as Production Control Coordinator through two systems implementations.
  • Participated as Materials Manager during implementation of MRP system putting required disciplines in place in facilities located in both U.S. and Mexico.
Training
  • Developed short, high impact courses using simulation and actual work environment to support the “overwhelmed” organization that needs training, but cannot afford the time.
  • Developed “Paradigm shift” courses for a world class transportation company to facilitate the change in mind-set necessary to install new computer systems.

Ray has a B.S. Degree in Business Administration from Colorado State University and is a certified practitioner (CPIM) by APICS. He is an active member of several professional societies: ASTD, ASQC, PMA and APICS. Leadership roles include past chapter president for APICS and Chairman -Southern California Apprenticeship Committee, PMA. Since 1980 he has taught production management courses to working professionals through the California State University system.
